Registered 911 Address
When using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, such as Kontak Retriever, your service address provide during account set up is assigned as your emergency services address ("Registered Address"), unless otherwise specified.
In the event you dial 911, this address is sent to the 911 dispatcher you speak with. Since only a single address can be attached to a phone number, you must notify emergency services if the address you are calling from is different than your Registered Address.
Verifying your Registered 911 Address
To check that emergency services are enabled and confirm your Registered Address, you may dial *933 from any Kontak Retriever device.
If your Registered Address does not match your current service address or if you plan on permanently relocating your device(s) to a different service address, please notify Kontak Retriever of this change as soon as possible, so we can update your Registered Address.
Limitations of Emergency Services over VoIP
Emergency Calling Service/911 might not be available from a device under certain circumstances, including but not limited to:
- During an electrical power outage
- During a broadband service outage
- Relocation of your phone from the registered address
Kontak Retriever customers must notify their end-users about the 9-1-1 limitations of the emergency services over VoIP. Warning labels regarding the limitations or unavailability of 9-1-1 services should be on or near each VoIP device.
Pre-made warning labels, which can be printed to stickers, as well as Kontak Retriever's 911 Disclaimer, which includes a full list of limitations, are attached at the bottom of this article.
